The Patient Advocate Foundation‘s mission is to provide effective mediation and arbitration services to patients to remove obstacles to healthcare including medical debt crisis, insurance access issues and employment issues for patients with chronic, debilitating and life-threatening illnesses.

Types of Services Provided

Types of legal services provided: Referrals to legal representation (private bar), Referrals to pro bono legal representation, Referrals to public agencies (e.g. EEOC - state insurance departments), Referral to cancer organizations, Free consultation to volunteer attorneys when appropriate. Our case managers provide hands-on mediation for areas easily negotiated outside legal means.

Provides training in the following areas: Our patient navigators provide individualized education and resolution to personalized issues a patient faces. We have ongoing training for the entire staff and provider community. We also have monthly webinars available to learn of PAF services and provide one-on-one support to individuals calling PAF for help.

Provides legal support in the following areas: Health insurance, Disability insurance, Employment, Financial (e.g. debtor-creditor / bankruptcy), Housing, PAF's mission is to provide support in the areas of access, debt crisis and job retention relative to their diagnosis. Patient Navigators provide assistance around health insurance, disability insurance, employment, housing issues such as delinquency or inability to afford through mediation, arbitration and negotiation.
